Make a difference as a part-time Counsellor at The Michener Institute. Provide essential mental health support and guidance for post-secondary students to enhance their academic and personal growth. As a part of the Student Success Network, you will support students enrolled in allied health programming and report to the VP, Students. This role involves one-on-one counselling addressing complex issues, delivering workshops on effective coping mechanisms, and applying various evidence-based practices. The goal is to foster resilience and well-being among a diverse student population. Key Responsibilities:
- Offer one-on-one counselling services to students
- Evaluate and address complex student concerns
- Facilitate workshops on stress and coping strategies
- Create and nurture a supportive academic environment
- Utilize various counselling techniques such as CBT and DBT
- Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, or social work
- Active membership in a relevant professional organization
- Strong knowledge of student mental health issues
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Police clearance needed upon hiring
