Counsellor

Counsellor to support our Counselling Services including Rapid Access, Individual, Family, & Child & Youth Counselling. Provide clinical counselling, therapy, & support services to navigating personal & interpersonal challenges, & provide clinics off-site for Rapid Access Counselling.

Provide counselling, therapy & related services.
Experience in counselling children, youth & families
Conducting initial assessments to determine needs & goals
Develop individualized serviced plans
Facilitate groups & develop programs
Attend agency meetings, knowledgeable about agency programs/community activities & community outreach
Perform related administrative & record keeping duties
Participate in clinical supervision
Assist with supervision of peers, students & individual cases
Work flexible hours - including evenings & weekends
Other duties as assigned

Degree in Social Work (BSW, BISW)
3 years supervised clinical experience in a related/relevant counselling area
Eligible to register with & maintain good standing in a relevant professional association

Theories/Practices of
interviewing, assessment, & evaluation techniques
human development, behavior & change
communication & conflict resolution
trauma- & violence-informed approaches
Assess high risk clients (suicidal) & intervene quickly/appropriately
Experience with evidence-based interventions for children & youth mental health & behavioural concerns
Cultural awareness & sensitivity to Indigenous, immigrant, refugee, newcomer and 2SLGBTQI+ communities
Experience in facilitating group work; knowledge of group dynamics
Strong organizational, time management & caseload management skills
Excellent written & verbal communication
Maintain confidentiality & uphold professional ethical standards
Respond effectively to complex & sensitive situations
