Position Overview:

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Swamper/Box Truck Driver to join our growing team based out of our Salmon Arm location. The Swamper/Box Truck Driver will be responsible for operating box trucks to collect refuse and recycling within the local region. Candidates must have a clean driving record, a strong understanding of safe vehicle operation, and the ability to navigate effectively, complete daily logbooks, and perform thorough pre- and post-trip inspections. Our drivers are also expected to communicate professionally with team members and the public while representing the company with integrity and a commitment to safety and service in a fast-paced and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate box trucks to safely and efficiently collect refuse and recycling from designated locations within the local region.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure roadworthiness and report any issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date driver logs and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Navigate routes efficiently using maps or GPS, ensuring timely service and minimal downtime.
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with dispatch, team members, and the public.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and operational procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
• Assist with basic maintenance and cleanliness of assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 75 lbs. consistently, with the ability to push, pull, bend, and climb as needed.
• Ability to work independently and remain focused without supervision.
• Strong time management skills and the ability to manage responsibilities effectively.
• Commitment to providing safe, prompt, and courteous customer service.
• Basic mechanical aptitude to assist with equipment maintenance is an asset.
• Experience in collections and material handling is considered an asset.
