Internship: Power Systems Engineering - Brossard, Canada

What you’ll do:

Eaton's Electrical Engineering Services & Systems (EESS) division is seeking a Power Systems Engineering Intern. This position will be located at the Eaton Americas Innovation Center in Brossard, Québec, Canada and offers hybrid work opportunities. Candidates should reside within 80km of Brossard, Québec, Canada.

CYME has earned a solid reputation for both its technical expertise and its diligent after-sales service. Our solutions are at the heart of thousands of T&D projects in more than 100 countries around the world. As a member of a multidisciplinary development team, the software developer intern will participate in the design and development of high-tech software and projects.

We are looking for an intern to assist the engineers of the research and development group. As a member of a multidisciplinary development team, the intern will participate in the development of projects in the field of analysis and modeling of electricity distribution networks and renewable energies.

Main functions

 

• Support the engineering team in research and development for the CYME power network simulation software
• R&D projects – Analyze customer specifications, write design documents, prepare test plans
• Model electrical networks with CYME software
• Validate models of electrical equipment and mathematical algorithms for power network analysis
• Automate and document multiple quality assurance cases using a Python API

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

 

• Have a good knowledge of basic electrical engineering: Ohm's Law, Kirchhoff's Laws. 
• Have mathematical knowledge of complex numbers and matrix calculations.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without corporate sponsorship now or in the future.
• Candidates must live within an 80 km radius of Brossard, Québec, Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

 

• Have a good knowledge of Python programming.
• Have a good knowledge of electrical engineering: symmetrical components and electrical equipment.
• Knowledge of network simulation software (e.g. CYME, PowerWorld, EMTP-VR).
• Be autonomous, have initiative, rigor and attention to detail.
