Position Summary
The Development Associate supports fundraising and donor relations efforts that align with JIBC's Key Commitments, including Putting Students First and Pursuing Education and Training Excellence . This role coordinates and assists with all fundraising initiativessuch as annual giving, major giving, and planned givingwhile assisting with organizing donor recognition and stewardship activities to ensure a positive experience for donors and the success of internal fundraisers and volunteers. As the first point of contact for donor inquiries, you'll play a key role in fostering strong relationships and maintaining trust. Your expertise in Raiser's Edge and Raiser's Edge NXT relationship management software will ensure accurate records, timely reporting, and data integrity. Additionally, you'll facilitate meetings, campus tours, and donor recognition events that inspire continued support for our goals. By collaborating with internal and external interest holders, this role contributes to the overall success of the Office of Development and helps strengthen donor relationships, enabling purpose-driven fundraising campaigns and institutional growth. Qualifications & Requirements:
- Diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in business, communications, marketing, fundraising or related discipline.
- Completion of two or more Fundamentals of Fundraising courses (Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) or other accredited post-secondary institution) preferred.
- Minimum two years' experience supporting the fundraising function, including using Raiser's Edge and Raiser's Edge NXT relationship management software (including gift management and Blackbaud Merchant Services features), preferably in a non-profit or post-secondary setting.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated understanding of the fundraising cycle and fundraising initiatives, along with experience in basic donor research and donor stewardship.
- Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service, and to work effectively with internal team members, volunteers and external interest holders (donors and prospects, and the general public).
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise judgement, tact and discretion with all sensitive and confidential information.
- Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to draft professional documents, proposals and reports, and respond to written inquiries.
- Superior organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Experience supporting financial processes, including invoice processing and expense reconciliation.
- Ability to work simultaneously on a variety of complex projects; determine priorities and balance workflow, balance changing workload expectations and frequent interruptions.
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and online content management systems.
- Must be able to arrange and attend donor recognition and stewardship activities, including transporting any necessary materials to these meetings. Access to reliable transportation is required to fulfill these responsibilities.

What JIBC Offers:
We offer a total compensation package that includes Extended Health and Dental Benefits, and enrollment in the Municipal Pension Plan after six months. In addition, we offer 15 vacation days annually (pro-rated in first year), as well as other generous leave entitlements.
Salary Range:
$53,512.83 to $60,638.13 per annum (BCGEU Pay Grid 13)

Work Arrangements:
This is a regular, full time (35 hours per week) position. Applicants must be within a commutable distance to JIBC's New Westminster Campus. This position may be considered for a hybrid work arrangement.
