Locomotive Engineer

Crosskey Marketing Inc. is seeking an experienced Locomotive Engineer to support rail operations on a shortline railway. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of locomotives and the movement, switching, and placement of railcars on the line.

We are looking to fill a variety of employment arrangements, including full-time, part-time, casual, and contract positions. Please indicate in your cover letter the type of position you are seeking.

Responsibilities
-Operate locomotive and work safely and efficiently in both yard and road operations.
-Operate both freight and passenger trains.
-Perform train movements and general switching in coordination with the Conductor.
-Perform daily locomotive inspections.
-Maintain strict adherence to operating rules, operating procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications
-Previous experience as a Locomotive Engineer is required.
-Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to identify basic mechanical issues and support troubleshooting efforts.
-Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
-Effective radio communication skills.
-Ability to work safely with minimal supervision.
-Physically capable of climbing, walking uneven surfaces, and working in all weather conditions.
-Applicants are required to hold a valid drivers license.
-Employment is conditional upon passing CROR rules examination and railway medical.
