Company Description
Mission is located on the unceded, ancestral, and shared territory of the Stó:l? Peoples, specifically on Leq'á:mel, Semá:th, Máthexwi, Kwantlen, Sq'éwlets, and Katzie traditional territories in the lower mainland of BC. Nestled on the southern coastal mountain slopes overlooking the lush Fraser River Valley, Mission is a rapidly growing and dynamic community of approximately 41,500 residents, 20 kilometers north of the US border and 70 kilometers east of Vancouver. Although Mission is part of a broader metropolitan area, it still maintains its distinct and welcoming small-town flavor.
The City of Mission is inviting you to join our dynamic team committed to delivering excellent public service and infrastructure. We are seeking an Engineering Technologist 2 to enhance our efforts in managing complex engineering projects with innovative solutions.
As an Engineering Technologist 2, you will be analyzing infrastructure capacities, identifying deficiencies, and proposing solutions using advanced modeling techniques and hand calculations. You will assist in negotiations for property and right-of-way acquisitions essential for project execution and prepare terms of reference to oversee consultant services.
Additionally, your responsibilities include aiding in the development and modification of utility master plans and neighborhood plans, providing technical reviews of development applications to ensure compliance with municipal standards, and generating cost estimates for municipal works and services. You will also participate in the development and amendment of bylaws and engineering standards, execute site visits, conduct field reconnaissance, and ensure project alignment with plans. The successful candidate will effectively communicate with various stakeholders to deliver technical information clearly.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related field or a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, with a minimum of four years (Bachelor's) or five years (Diploma) of experience in a municipal engineering environment. Membership or eligibility for membership with EGBC or ASTTBC is required, along with proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, InfoWater Pro, and Infoworks ICM. Experience with ESRI's ArcGIS Pro software is an asset. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with a proven ability to establish effective working relationships, and a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License is also required.

Why join us? At the City of Mission, you will work in a dynamic, collaborative environment where your ideas contribute to community development. You'll have the opportunity to develop professionally through various projects and continuous learning opportunities while shaping the infrastructure and growth of the community.
The hourly rate of pay is $56.18, plus a comprehensive benefits package including the Municipal Pension Plan. The hours of work for this position are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm from Monday to Friday working a nine-day fortnight (one extra day off every two weeks).
Closing date extended to: June 15
