The Opportunity:
Position: packer operator
Location: Kamloops, BC
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate Compactor Machinery: Safely operate compactor equipment to compress and compact soil, gravel, waste, and other materials.
- Perform Equipment Checks: Conduct pre-operational and post-operational checks on the compactor to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Routine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as checking fluid levels, inspecting parts for wear and tear, and cleaning the machine.
- Adhere to Safety Standards: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Material Management: Ensure materials are evenly spread and compacted according to project requirements.
- Communication: Coordinate with supervisors, other operators, and site workers to ensure efficient workflow and project completion.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of machine usage, maintenance activities, and any issues encountered during operations.
- Environmental Compliance: Adhere to environmental regulations and guidelines when operating the compactor, especially in waste management operations.
Experience:
- Experience: Previous experience operating heavy machinery, particularly compactors, is preferred.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various weather conditions.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure materials are properly compacted and equipment is well-maintained.
- Communication Skills: Good communication skills to interact with team members and report issues.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
