When assigned charge responsibilities, the Registered Nurse provides clinical leadership to Health Care Aides (HCAs), Unit Clerks, Licensed Practice Nurses (LPNs), and other Registered Nurses. The Registered Nurse fulfills professional accountabilities by practicing in alignment with the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics, the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) Practice Expectations, The College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba (CRPNM) Practice Expectations and scope of practice as defined by the Regulated Health Care Professions Act (RHPA) and applicable regulations, as well as relevant provincial and federal legislation. The Registered Nurse practices in a manner consistent with, and actively supports the Mission, Vision and Values of the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority.Interlake-Eastern RHA is committed to responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action and creating working environments free of racism for both clients and employees. Collectively and individually, we are growing cultural competency capacity by implementing the region’s anti-racism action plan.Qualifications Active practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurse of Manitoba, or College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba or eligible for active practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM), or College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba (CRPNM). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training – as delineated in Interlake-Eastern RHA Employer Provided and Required Certifications Policy GA-11-P-050. Successful completion of WRHA or CCMB Program Orientation required or successful completion within 6 weeks of employment Long Distance Oncology Course – Foundations in Oncology through De Souza, Ontario or equivalent required or completion within twelve (12) months of employment Recent related experience is an asset (up to two (2) years of experience may be required or preferred) Recent related up to two (2) years’ experience in emergency, medicine, or surgery nursing is required Recent related demonstrated experience in Oncology setting is preferred Knowledge, competence and ability to demonstrate clinical nursing skills and concepts in accordance with practice and nursing standards. Basic knowledge and skills to work with computers and electronic software programs. Demonstrated ability to make effective and sound decisions related to nursing care. Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving, and organizational skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain positive, respectful, and professional relationships with co-workers and clients. Valid Manitoba driver’s license, where required for the position. Demonstrated mental and physical ability to meet the demands of the position. Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to communicate in more than one language would be considered an asset. Proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions. Completes and maintains a satisfactory pre-employment security check. Satisfactory employment record.
