Job Description

The Houseman position is responsible for managing set-up and maintaining, breaking down, and cleaning conference rooms and lounges in accordance with Aramark standards, safety rules, and sanitation policies.  You’ll set up, maintain, break down, and clean for food and beverage special events.  
The Houseman role receives guidance from the Senior Houseman, the Operations Manager or the Senior Operations Manager. The role of the houseman is to provide exemplary customer service while setting up, tearing down and refresh event spaces based on the requirements of the client.

Job Responsibilities

  • Know, understand, and comply with all ARAMARK and client policies and procedures related to health and safety, security, emergency response, food safety, and sanitation.
  • Safeguard company assets and support loss prevention initiatives.
  • Maintain a positive, professional attitude in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • Must work well with fellow employees, as a team member, working toward common goals.
  • Utilizes time and resources in the most efficient and effective manner possible.
  • Assist in training and mentoring team members on menu knowledge, service standards, and operational procedures, as required.
  • Adhere to all applicable collective agreement provisions and workplace regulations.
  • Safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and remain standing for extended periods.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events, as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and product quality standards, ensuring proper waste disposal practices are followed.
  • Address guest complaints and concerns diplomatically, courteously, and professionally, seeking effective resolutions whenever possible.
  • Ensure a high level of guest satisfaction by responding promptly and professionally to requests and concerns.
  • Anticipate guest needs and provide proactive, attentive service to enhance the guest experience.
  • Greet all guests in a timely manner and deliver exemplary customer service.
  • Provide customer with building and events-oriented information.
  • Set up and/or flip event spaces according to floor plans and event orders, including tables, chairs, dance floors, staging, podiums, pipe and drape, flags and poles, easels and other equipment as needed.
  • The shift may also include the use of ride on tow motors and/or pallet jacks.
  • Assist with room transformations and ensure event layouts meet client specifications.
  • Works closely with the Maintenance Department to ensure that all repairs are done and cleaned before the event begins.
  • Ensure room set up standards are upheld.
  • Keep water services and amenity stations (mints, paper, pens) stocked in all meeting rooms.
  • Replenish event supplies throughout functions.
  • Provides a safe environment for customers by keeping assigned area free of clutter. Properly stores and handles chemicals and materials.
  • Properly stores all materials and equipment at the end of each working shift.
  • Abides by and upholds overall customer service standards. 
  • Performs other such duties as may be required or directed.
  • Operating material handling and personnel lifting equipment.
  • Operate motorized equipment and utility carts safely to transport tables, chairs, linens, and banquet supplies.
  • Load, unload, and move furniture, equipment, and materials for event setup and breakdown.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of banquet rooms, storage areas, and public spaces.
  • Support banquet staff during events by responding to setup changes and guest service needs.
  • Inspect equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors.
  • Follow workplace safety procedures when lifting, moving, and operating equipment.
  • Break down event spaces after functions and return equipment to designated storage areas.
  • Collaborated with operations teams to deliver seamless event operations and exceptional guest experiences.
  • Complete all assigned opening, closing, and daily side-work duties..

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Bilingual (English-French) is considered an asset.
  • This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Education

The pay range for this position is $19.55 - $21.22.
