This position is responsible for operating a variety of equipment and performing manual labour required to maintain highway and right-of-way assets in accordance with OMR standards and contractual requirements.

This role will be based in Dow Settlement, NB.

Your role

• Operate highway maintenance vehicles and equipment including snow plow trucks, dump trucks, loaders, skid steer loaders, tractors and light vehicles.
• Perform snow and ice control activities including plowing, sanding and salting.
• Complete pre-trip inspections and basic maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Perform general highway maintenance and labour duties as required.
• Set up traffic control and assist with emergency response and site clean-up.
• Complete daily work records and reports.
• Assist mechanics with routine vehicle and equipment maintenance as needed.
• Assist with yard maintenance and general housekeeping.
• Work rotating shifts during Winter Operations.
• Overtime and on-call work may be required during winter weather events.

About you

• Minimum 2 years of related experience preferred.
• Experience operating heavy equipment is preferred.
• General knowledge of highway maintenance operations is an asset.
• Valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver's licence.
• Clean driver's abstract.
• Able to work safely in all weather conditions.
• Available to work rotating shifts, overtime and on-call during Winter Operations.
