Our client is a prominent Canadian business law firm with a strong national and global footprint.

The Senior Manager of bids and proposals, serves as a key strategic leader within the firm’s national Client and Business Development function, guiding the Proposals and Pursuits team while working closely with Business Analytics and Pricing. You will be responsible for managing a national team of five direct reports. This role is responsible for leading the development of polished, client-centered proposal submissions that support growth initiatives, including managing the full lifecycle of RFPs, RFIs, RFQs, pitch decks, and presentation materials. The position requires the ability to clearly communicate differentiated value, craft compelling and tailored messaging, and adapt creatively to the unique requirements of lawyers and clients. Beyond delivery, the Senior Manager advances a forward-looking, strategic proposal function by strengthening processes, encouraging innovation, and introducing initiatives that enhance quality and efficiency. The role also focuses on coaching and developing team members, providing trusted strategic advice to stakeholders, applying strong project management practices to manage priorities, and leveraging proposal metrics and reporting to refine approach and measure impact, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and results-driven leadership.

The ideal Senior Manager brings over a decade of experience in business writing, with deep expertise in proposal development and business development, ideally within legal or professional services. Exceptional communication abilities, both written and verbal, along with meticulous attention to detail are essential, as is a genuine passion for crafting and continuously improving compelling proposal content. The role requires someone who can effectively manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight timelines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is expected, while experience with project or proposal management methodologies, content management systems, and tools such as Asana and Foundation are considered valuable assets.
