WHAT’S THE OPPORTUNITY?  

We have an exciting opportunity for (2)  Student Support Worker s  to join our  Youth Development Team !  We are currently hiring for (2)1- year  C ontract s   starting in September 2026( option for 10 Month contract ending July 16).

The Student Support Worker provides comprehensive, prevention-focused support to youth living in neighbourhoods who may experience multiple barriers to success. Working collaboratively with students, families, schools, and community partners, the Student Support Worker helps youth build protective factors, access resources, strengthen connections, and successfully navigate their educational journey.  

This role combines individual student support, family engagement, program development and facilitation, community collaboration, and administrative coordination to help students achieve academic, social, emotional, and post-secondary success

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:  

Student and Family Support  

• Build trusting relationships with students and families through intake, assessment, goal setting, and ongoing engagement.   Act as a bridge between youth, families, schools, and community resources.  

• Provide mentoring, coaching, psychoeducation, skill building, advocacy, and family support.  

• Support  approximately 55to 65 youth participants through individualized case coordination and service planning.  

• Assist students with post-secondary exploration, applications, and transition planning.  

• Provide crisis response, safety planning, and referrals when  

Program Development and Facilitation  

• Design, coordinate, and  facilitate youth programming focused on academic success, leadership development, employment readiness, recreation, social-emotional learning, and community engagement   informed by program goals and youth feedback.  

• Coordinate and support tutoring, group activities, workshops,  special events , campus visits, and experiential learning opportunities.  

• Foster safe, welcoming, and inclusive environments that promote youth engagement and belonging.  

Community and School Collaboration  

• Collaborate with students, caregivers, schools, community agencies, volunteers, and other stakeholders to support youth success.  

• Support youth in accessing specialized opportunities, employment experiences, volunteer placements, scholarships, and external programs.  

• Maintain positive relationships with community and educational partners.  

Documentation, Reporting, and Evaluation  

• Maintain  accurate and  timely case notes, attendance records, registrations, goal tracking, academic information,  financial,  and demographic data.  

• Monitor program outcomes, targets, deliverables, and student progress.  

• Contribute to program evaluation activities, surveys, and reporting requirements.  

• Identify risks to achieving outcomes and proactively implement strategies to address them.  

• Ensure all documentation  complies with organizational, funder, and legislative requirements.  
  

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:  

• College diploma or university degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Social Service Work, Psychology, Education, or  a related field.  

• Minimum  2years of experience working with youth and families.  

• Demonstrated ability to engage and support youth facing multiple barriers.  

• Experience  facilitating youth programming and group activities.  

• Strong  relationship-building , communication, and problem-solving skills.  

• Ability to work collaboratively with families, schools, and community partners.  

• Experience with documentation, data tracking, and report preparation.  

• A positive attitude and willingness to learn and be an exceptional team player  

• Valid G driver's License and reliable access to a vehicle.

ARE THERE BONUS POINTS?

• Knowledge of community resources within  Waterloo Region.

• We are currently hiring for (2) 1-year contract s  

• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada  

• Satisfactory criminal record check for vulnerable sector  

• Must be able to provide either proof of  COVID  vaccination or documentation providing a satisfactory reason under the Ontario Human Rights Code for not being vaccinated  

• This role requires availability  to work evenings to meet the ongoing needs of students and their families. Some weekend work and working beyond the regular work schedule may be from time to time.  

• Wage:  This  role is a Practicing Professional 2 (PS4)and t he hourly  pay range is $27.13- $37.85
