Assessment Field Advisor

Job Title: FLY IN FLY OUT Assessment Field Advisor

The Assessment Field Advisor supports environmental field operations as a key member of the assessment team, working closely with Environmental Supervisors to carry out sampling, monitoring, and site assessment activities. This role is hands-on and field-based, focusing on collecting environmental data, supporting ground disturbance activities, and contributing to reclamation and remediation projects in a growing industry. The position is ideal for an intermediate professional who wants to develop their environmental field expertise and work toward professional designations.

Responsibilities

• Support field operations as a second to a Field Environmental Advisor, assisting with day-to-day environmental assessment activities.
• Serve as Person-In-Charge (PIC) for limited onsite work scopes on inactive sites, ensuring contractors complete their defined scopes effectively, efficiently, and safely, as directed by the Project Manager and supervised by the Field Environmental Advisor.
• Collect environmental samples, including soil gas and groundwater, and accurately label and prepare sample jars for laboratory analysis.
• Conduct borehole logging and support ground water monitoring activities as required.
• Read and interpret soil gas data and other field measurements as a hands-on contributor in the assessment team.
• Complete all work in strict adherence to health and safety standards that reflect regulatory requirements, corporate standards, and business leadership expectations.
• Support all ground disturbance activities as required to meet provincial regulations and internal procedures.
• Respond to spills when required, supporting sampling and cleanup efforts under the direction of Field Regulatory & Environmental Advisors and/or Project Managers.
• Communicate daily with the assigned Field Environmental Supervisor while on shift to provide updates, raise issues, and coordinate activities.
• Work closely and collaboratively with field operators, environmental and regulatory team members, and other project stakeholders, building strong rapport and maintaining a team-focused approach.
• Maintain all required safety tickets and certifications in good standing, and ensure permit-to-work processes and documentation such as LEMs are completed accurately.
• Support remediation, assessments and work on surface equipment and wellsites as part of defined project scopes.
• Adapt to long field days that include site work, field-level reporting, and responding to issues that arise throughout the day.
• Manage multiple nearby projects in a single day when required, organizing work efficiently and maintaining high standards across all assignments.

Essential Skills

• 3–7 years of experience in environmental assessment and remediation work.
• Demonstrated field-based experience
• Ability and willingness to work toward obtaining professional designations relevant to environmental or regulatory practice.
• Experience with reclamation, remediation, asset retirement, and work on surface equipment and well sites.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with field operators and diverse project teams.
• Willingness to learn and develop professionally within a growing environmental and regulatory group.
• Ability to work safely and consistently follow regulatory, corporate, and project-specific health and safety standards.
• Capacity to handle long field days, manage field-level reporting, and respond to day-to-day operational issues.
• Ability to work collaboratively, demonstrate a team-oriented mindset, and avoid siloed or non-cooperative work habits.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Groundwater monitoring experience is an asset.
• Experience with spill response, including sampling and cleanup support, is beneficial.
• Familiarity with ground disturbance regulations and permitting processes is an advantage.
• Comfort working on multiple projects in close proximity within a single day.
• Ability to build rapport quickly with a wide range of field operators and team members.
• Interest in long-term career growth in reclamation and remediation, particularly within an industry supported by government subsidies.

Work Environment

This is a predominantly field-based role with work taking place across northeastern British Columbia. The position operates on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation. You will need your own truck with 2 way radio and cell booster, with mileage and camp or allowance are provided.

This is a Contract position based out of Fort St. John, BC.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $800.00 - $800.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
