Introduction
We are currently seeking an Electrical & Fixed Equipment Superintendent for a permanent position with a leading underground mining operation in Quebec.
Reporting to site leadership, this role is responsible for the integrity, reliability, and availability of the site's electrical infrastructure and fixed assets. The successful candidate will lead electrical, instrumentation, and fixed equipment maintenance teams while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. This position plays a key role in optimizing asset performance, managing maintenance budgets, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the operation.
French fluency required.
Responsibilities
Maintenance & Asset Management
- Lead electrical, instrumentation, and fixed equipment maintenance teams, including supervisors and contractors
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee short-, medium-, and long-term maintenance activities
- Develop, implement, and optimize preventive maintenance programs within SAP PM
- Ensure the reliability, integrity, and availability of electrical infrastructure and critical fixed assets
- Oversee inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and emergency maintenance activities
- Maximize asset availability and operational performance
- Maintain critical spare parts inventories to minimize unplanned downtime
- Serve as a key SAP resource for maintenance-related modules and processes
Safety, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture
- Ensure compliance with site standards, policies, and regulatory requirements
- Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions
- Support initiatives focused on improving safety and environmental performance
- Champion operational excellence and continuous improvement
Budgeting & Strategic Planning
- Manage maintenance budgets and operating expenditures
- Monitor maintenance costs and identify optimization opportunities
- Recommend capital investments to improve asset reliability and performance
- Provide technical support for construction, modernization, optimization, and commissioning projects
- Collaborate with mining operations, processing, geology, engineering, and project teams to support operational objectives
- Mentor, develop, and evaluate maintenance personnel
- Conduct performance reviews and support employee development plans
- Participate in site leadership meetings and strategic initiatives
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing work environment
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related discipline
- Minimum 15 years of relevant maintenance experience in mining or heavy industrial environments
- Must be able to communicate effectively in French.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing maintenance teams
- Underground mining experience is required
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, automation, instrumentation, hydraulics, and mechanical equipment
- Proficiency with SAP PM, CMMS platforms, and Microsoft Office
- Strong understanding of applicable Quebec regulations and industry standards
- Valid General Explosives Permit considered an asset
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills
