Originator

Job Responsibility:

Hensall Co-op is seeking an Originator to work with new and existing growers to capitalize on food grade origination opportunities including IP soybeans and edible dry beans. The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter who can create long-term relationships to meet sales goals and organizational objectives. A significant portion of this position will be spent on the road, servicing and securing customers in a wide geographic region covering North Huron, North Perth, Grey, Bruce, Simcoe and Wellington counties. The remainder of the position will be performed between a home office and/or an identified HC location.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Origination of contracts for food grade soybeans and edible dry beans
• Procurement of commercial grains
• Assist with retail sales for seed and crop protection products
• Develop and maintain relationships with customers and provide updates on market trends, quotes and the ag business overall, including participation in grower meetings, trade shows, etc.
• Record keeping and administration of contract documentation such as Field trace, Field Scouting, Quality Assurance, signed contracts etc.
• Work with growers on plots and in-field demonstration trials for evaluating new products and practices.
• Maintain sales targets, prospect lists and product targets that strive to meet the overall organizational goals.
• Various other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Excellent communication, organization and time management skills
• Strong agricultural background and knowledge of industry
• Strategic selling and negotiation skills

Job Requirements:

• Post-Secondary degree/diploma is required - Agriculture focus is an asset
• Minimum 5 years' previous experience in a sales position
• Valid Ontario Driver's License
