Summary
We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Mall Manager to lead the operations of Melfort Mall. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining tenant satisfaction, increasing foot traffic, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and improving the overall customer experience. This position requires a mix of strategic planning, community engagement, team leadership, and property management expertise.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the mall to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for both tenants and visitors.
- Act as the primary liaison between mall tenants and property ownership, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
- Manage tenant leases , including renewals, vacancies, onboarding new tenants, and maintaining updated lease documentation.
- Collect rent and manage billing , ensuring timely payments, issuing invoices, and addressing payment discrepancies.
- Handle accounting tasks related to mall operations, including tracking expenses, petty cash management, and preparing budget reports.
- Record and approve staff work hours , oversee scheduling, and ensure all team members (custodial, maintenance, security) are performing efficiently and professionally.
- Supervise all mall staff to maintain accountability and high performance across departments.
- Monitor the condition of the mall actively , identifying and resolving issues such as repairs, safety hazards, and cleanliness concerns.
- Coordinate regular maintenance and improvement initiatives to enhance the physical state and visual appeal of the property.
- Implement marketing and promotional events to increase foot traffic and support tenant success.
- Ensure legal compliance , including fire safety, accessibility standards, and health codes.
- Build and maintain strong community relationships with local authorities, vendors, and neighboring businesses.
- Prepare detailed operational reports , including tenant feedback, maintenance needs, financial updates, and performance evaluations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in retail, property, or facilities management (mall management experience preferred).
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build lasting relationships with tenants, staff, and community partners.
- Experience with lease agreements, vendor contracts, and budget management.
- Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations and coordinate with authorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of property management systems is a plus.
