Senior Backend Engineer at Hopper

Drive innovation in travel tech as a Senior Backend Engineer with Hopper. Contribute to scalable lodging and car services while working in a remote-first environment. Become a part of Hopper’s Lodging and Cars Supply team, focusing on high-volume, real-time transactions. You will execute end-to-end integrations with external partners, write clean Scala code, and engage in thorough code reviews. Collaborating with Product Managers, you'll translate business needs into technical tasks while taking complete ownership of your development lifecycle. Key Responsibilities:
- Execute technical integrations with lodging and car partners
- Write performant code in Scala and JVM languages
- Troubleshoot complex codebases and resolve production issues
- Partner with teams to decompose requirements and estimates
- Design resilient services for seamless booking experiences
- Proficient in Scala or JVM languages like Java
- Experience in microservices architecture
- Familiarity with gRPC, Pub/Sub, and REST
- Ability to handle technical ambiguity independently
- Strong communication skills in remote settings
