Position: Part-Time Security Guard
Site: St. Joseph’s Health Centre - Guelph
Hours: Sunday & Saturday (0700-1900hrs)
Pay Rate: $21.22/hr.
Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Job Description:
- Patrol interior and exterior campus areas to maintain a safe and secure environment, including buildings, parking lots, and grounds.
- Respond to emergency codes, panic alarms, and personal alarms, coordinating immediate assistance as required.
- Assist staff, patients, visitors, volunteers, contractors, police, and support agencies.
- Conduct foot and mobile patrols; monitor CCTV/GUI systems; investigate incidents such as theft, vandalism, accidents, and suspicious activity.
- Provide staff escorts during evening and night shifts; operate security portals where applicable.
- Manage key control, access permissions, and personal alarm distribution in accordance with SJHCG policies.
- Monitor parking areas and address safety or security concerns as required.
- Complete patrol logs, incident reports, and required documentation accurately and on time.
- Follow up on emergency maintenance and incidents during off-hours by contacting on-call personnel or site administration.
- Use, maintain, and safeguard security equipment, including radios, pagers, keys, ID badges, and vehicles.
- Conduct inspections, identify hazards or deficiencies, and report or take corrective action.
- Work closely with the SJHCG Security Manager and Paladin Client Service Manager to support security programs.
- Maintain a professional appearance, provide excellent customer service, and participate in emergency drills and training.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support campus safety.
Requirements:
- Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
- Valid First Aid & CPR Level C (WSIB approved provider)
- Covid Vaccine two doses
- Proof of up to date immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and 2 step Tuberculosis skin test
- Must be willing to complete N95 Mask fit testing during the training
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- Minimum 1 year security experience in healthcare settings
- Proficient in English (both oral and written)
- Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services is an asset.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Must provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB). Applicants without these certifications can opt into Paladin’s UOF/MOAB training before onboarding.
Please note: UOF/MOAB training is unpaid as it is a pre-employment requirement. Paladin covers all training costs with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability.
