JOB SUMMARY
The Officer, Paralympic Performance works within a team to advise and support, Paralympic expertise to our member National Sport Organizations (NSOs) and the Canadian sport system. They contribute to and advise in the development of a suite of services and programs to have the best-prepared teams that thrive in a performance-focused environment. The Officer also works with CPC’s performance partners to ensure alignment of programming for integrated High-Performance & Games planning.

Location: Remote within Canada, with travel to CPC head office in Ottawa for occasional in-person meetings or as the job demands.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Contribute to the CPC Sports Strategy and implement the strategic priorities into operational planning.
- Provide leadership in Paralympic expertise to NSO members and the Canadian Sport System
- Support and advise NSOs on their Paralympic and Parapan-American Games performance plans.
- Enhance and support the implementation of Games performance services and programs such as, but not limited to, funding initiatives, Games Site Visits, Familiarization, Pre-Games Training Camp Scouting, Test Events, Pre-Games Team Orientations, and Games Performance Services, inclusive of Health, Wellness, and Sport Sciences Services.
- Support the implementation, with NSOs, of all funding programs developed by the Paralympic System and Services area around Safe Sport, Athlete ID, Classification, Health and Wellness, Athlete Engagement, and other programs as required.
- Provide ongoing sport technical and Games performance planning reports on all program plans and the relationship status with sports and performance partners.
- Identifies gaps within NSO Games' performance planning and facilitates finding performance-focused solutions.
- At Games implementation and support of a performance-focused environment, allowing teams to achieve their performance targets
- Formulate and maintain strong relationships with NSO members and key performance partners to deliver optimal planning and world-class services during the Games.
- Understand, implement, and maintain world-class Paralympic best practices and processes through ongoing collaboration within the department.
- Represent CPC and participates in performance partner (COC, COPSIN, OTP, and Sport Canada) planning, programs, and reviews.
- Lead and manage designated department projects, such as Planning and Preparation Series, NSO Relations tools, Classification, Committees, and Funding Initiatives, in support of CPC, NSOs, and performance partners.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education, preferably in kinesiology, or equivalent experience in a similar position with a sport organization, or as an athlete or a coach
- Strong sport technical knowledge, including an understanding of the Canadian Sport system and the roles, responsibilities, and pressures of athletes, coaches, and NSOs
- Strong understanding of the Games environment to best help prepare athletes, coaches, and team leaders to perform during the Paralympic Games
- Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and work effectively and collaboratively with both internal and external
- Proficiency with office applications such as email, project planning, databases, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation development,
- Ability to work in a team environment with strong interpersonal and communication
- Detail-oriented with a thorough approach to problem-solving and work
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a high-performance athlete and/or coach
- Experience working in a National Sport Organization in the high-performance
- Experience working in a Games
- Strong program/event planning and logistics
- Experience as a Paralympian is considered an
- Ability to communicate in Canada’s both official languages is considered a strong asset.

Working Conditions
· The CPC will consider applicants from across Canada who would be interested in taking on this position remotely. The CPC Head Office is located in Ottawa, ON.
· This position requires overnight travel to sites within Canada (e.g., Games, Events, partner meetings, etc.)
· Staff based outside of Ottawa will be expected to travel to Ottawa a few times a year or as the job demands.
· Will be required to work evenings and weekends during busy periods, including during Games time and other special events

Il ou elle prodigue des conseils et participe à l’élaboration d’une série de services et de programmes destinés à faire en sorte que les équipes soient les mieux préparées et qu’elles excellent dans un environnement axé sur la performance. L’agent(e) veille également, avec les partenaires du CPC en matière de performance, à ce que les programmes soient bien alignés pour permettre une planification intégrée des Jeux et de la haute performance.

Tâches et responsabilités principales
- Contribuer à l’élaboration de la Stratégie sportive du CPC et mettre en œuvre les priorités stratégiques en matière de planification opérationnelle;
- Assurer le leadership en matière d’expertise paralympique auprès des ONS membres et du système sportif canadien;
- Soutenir et conseiller les ONS relativement à leurs plans de performance pour les Jeux paralympiques et les Jeux parapanaméricains;
- Renforcer et appuyer la mise en œuvre des services et programmes de performance aux Jeux, comme, entre autres, les initiatives de financement, les visites des sites des Jeux, la familiarisation, la reconnaissance des camps d’entraînement préalables aux Jeux, les épreuves tests, les orientations de l’équipe avant les Jeux et les services liés à la performance aux Jeux comme la santé, le bien-être et les sciences sportives;
- Appuyer la mise en œuvre, avec les ONS, de tous les programmes de financement élaborés par le système paralympique et le secteur des services en lien avec le sport sécuritaire, l’identification des athlètes, la classification, la santé et le bien-être, l’engagement des athlètes et d’autres programmes, au besoin;
- Rédiger à intervalles réguliers des rapports techniques sportifs et des rapports sur la planification de la performance aux Jeux relativement à tous les plans du programme et à l’état des relations avec les sports et les partenaires de la performance.
- Identifier les lacunes dans la planification de la performance aux Jeux des ONS et faciliter l’identification de solutions axées sur la performance.
- Aux Jeux, créer et encourager un environnement axé sur la performance qui permette aux équipes d’atteindre leurs cibles;
- Formuler et entretenir d’excellentes relations avec les ONS membres et des partenaires clés en matière de performance afin d’assurer la réalisation d’une planification optimale et la prestation de services de classe mondiale pendant les Jeux;
- Comprendre, mettre en œuvre et maintenir des pratiques et des processus paralympiques de classe internationale en collaborant continuellement avec les membres du service;
- Représenter le CPC et participer à la planification, aux programmes et aux analyses des partenaires de la performance (COC, RISOPC, ANP et Sport Canada);
- Piloter et gérer certains projets du département, comme la série Planification et préparation, des outils sur les relations avec les ONS, la classification, les comités et les initiatives de financement, et soutenir ainsi le CPC, les ONS et les partenaires de la performance.
Qualifications
- Éducation postsecondaire, préférablement en kinésiologie, ou expérience équivalente à un poste similaire au sein d’une organisation sportive, ou comme athlète ou entraîneur
- Bonnes connaissances techniques du milieu sportif, notamment du système sportif canadien, ainsi que des rôles et responsabilités des athlètes, entraîneurs et ONS et des pressions auxquelles ils font face
- Bonne compréhension de l’environnement des Jeux pour aider à préparer au mieux les athlètes, les entraîneurs et les chefs d’équipe à se préparer à réaliser une performance optimale lors des Jeux paralympiques
- Capacité avérée à tisser des liens et à travailler efficacement et en collaboration avec les collègues à l’interne et externes
- Maîtrise d’applications bureautiques (courriel, planification de projet, bases de données, traitement de texte, tableurs, élaboration de présentations, etc.)
- Capacité à travailler en équipe grâce à d’excellentes compétences en communication et en relations interpersonnelles
- Rigueur et souci du détail dans la résolution de problèmes et les méthodes de travail
- Trois (3) à cinq (5) ans d’expérience comme athlète ou entraîneur/entraîneuse de haut niveau
- Expérience professionnelle au sein du service de la haute performance d’un organisme national de sport
- Expérience professionnelle dans un environnement de jeux
- Expérience pertinente en planification de programmes/d’événements et en logistique
- Une expérience comme paralympien(ne) constitue un atout.
- La capacité à communiquer dans les deux langues officielles du Canada constitue un atout important

Conditions de travail
· Le CPC prendra en considération les candidats de partout au Canada qui souhaiteraient occuper ce poste à distance. Le siège social du CPC se situe à Ottawa, en Ontario.
· Ce poste nécessitera de réaliser des déplacements de plus de 24 h vers plusieurs sites au Canada (p. ex. pour les Jeux, des événements, des réunions avec des partenaires, etc.)
· Le personnel basé à l’extérieur d’Ottawa devra se rendre à Ottawa plusieurs fois par an ou selon les exigences du poste.
· Il sera nécessaire de travailler les soirs et les fins de semaine lors des périodes chargées, notamment pendant les Jeux et lors d’autres événements spéciaux.
