The Food Sharing Project (FSP) is an incorporated Canadian charity operating for 40 years. As Community Partner of the Ontario Student Nutrition Program, FSP provides nutritious food and equipment to all 88 publicly funded schools in Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox & Addington (KFL&A) to support breakfast, lunch and snack programs.
Each week, 10 tonnes of fresh food — valued at over $25,000 — is delivered to schools across the region. Additionally, 10,000 meals a month are prepared and delivered to 42 schools through our Lunch is Ready! initiative.
FSP operates a 2,800 sq ft warehouse, three delivery vehicles, two commercial kitchens, and employs eight full-time and two part-time staff.
Mission: Provide nourishment for students in KFL&A to improve readiness to learn by increasing access to healthy food.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management (30%)
- Provide mission-driven leadership for all programs and operations aligned with our Values and Board-approved strategic priorities.
- Manage employee lifecycle: hiring, supervising, coaching, and performance management.
- Hold Leadership Team meetings twice monthly; schedule regular individual check-ins.
- Foster a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and continuous improvement.
Financial Management (20%)
- Prepare annual budget; provide forecasting, expenditure oversight, and financial analysis.
- Manage multi-program operations with government funding compliance; process payroll; act as signing authority.
- Oversee bookkeeping, payments, deposits, reconciliations, and online ordering platform.
- Negotiate vendor pricing; assist with annual audit and charitable returns.
Funding Management (20%)
- Develop and implement a funding strategy alongside the BOD Funding Management Committee.
- Serve as primary donor contact; steward donors, plan appreciation events, encourage enhanced giving.
- Seek and apply for grants from foundations and municipal programs.
- Oversee provincial sponsor funding and complete United Way applications and reports.
Governance (20%)
- Support BOD with strategic decisions, governance practices, and monthly reporting.
- Oversee risk analysis; ensure compliance with OHS, Food Safety, and WHMIS requirements.
- Liaise with Lead Agency (Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation) on compliance and reporting.
- Negotiate MOUs with school boards and service providers; maintain adequate insurance coverage.
Public Relations & Community Leadership (10%)
- Maintain relationships and advance partnerships to strengthen service delivery.
- Act as primary spokesperson in consultation with the Board Chair.
- Participate on local committees and regional/provincial/national sector discussions.
- The ED is expected to understand all operations and step in as needed, including warehouse support and volunteer orientation.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in a related field.
- Minimum 3 years senior leadership in non-profit, education, community health, or food security.
- Strong experience in budgeting, financial oversight, fundraising, grant writing, and donor engagement.
- Commitment to equity, dignity, and universal access to nutritious food.
- Proficient with Office 365, Sage accounting software, and cloud-based operations.
- Valid Ontario Driver's Licence; ability to lift 25kg.
- Bilingualism (English/French) considered an asset.
Working Conditions
Full-time (37.5 hrs/week), Kingston, Ontario. Travel within KFL&A required. Occasional evenings/weekends.
Compensation
$85,000–$90,000 commensurate with experience, plus comprehensive benefits, 4 weeks vacation, mileage reimbursement, and professional development.
