Job Responsibility:
MLTC was created by nine First Nations located in north-west Saskatchewan who have constitutionally recognized aboriginal rights and Treaty Rights under Treaties #6, #8 and #10. The primary purpose of MLTC is to serve those First Nations in their aspirations for cultural, economic and political autonomy. As a private sector employer engaged primarily in promoting and serving the interests of the member First Nations, MLTC asserts its right to provide preferential treatment to First Nations people, giving them priority in decisions on employment matters such as hiring, and this can extend to measures such as opening competitions only to First Nations people.

The MLTC Economic Development Department is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated individual to fill a one (1) year term position of Tourism Project Coordinator (TPC).
The TPC will represent the four (4) dene First Nations and five (5) Cree First Nations of the Meadow Lake Tribal Council by managing and coordinating our Meadow Lake Indigenous Tourism Emerging Destination Expansion Project.
Duties:
· Organize opportunities for community members to benefit from Tourism Market Readiness Training and Tourism Skills Development.
· Assist with the development and launch of a new Regional Tribal Tourism Company - focus on developing and providing Indigenous Tourism.
· Coordinate Tourism Products and Services Development - develop and enhance visitor programs and services, design Indigenous cultural tourism packages in partnership with key Indigenous Tourism attractions.
· Develop, coordinate and implement an Analysis and Reporting System and a Feedback System.
· Develop MLTC Tourism Protocols and Standards of Service for the new Tourism Company.
· Liaise and negotiate with and influence key stakeholders to promote and implement tourism infrastructure and service requirements.
Qualifications:
· Relevant degree, diploma, or post-secondary education/training and extensive community development and project management experience.
· Demonstrated interest and ability in tourism.
· Demonstrated ability to work for multiple partners and to work from a community-based perspective.
· Demonstrated leadership qualities, ability to work collaboratively with various internal groups and external parties (government and private sector) in building consensus, alliances and partnerships.
· Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment.
· Understanding of the socio-economic environment of Central and Northern Saskatchewan and its indigenous communities.
· Excellent communication skills (verbal/written), interpersonal skills, time-management skills, and organizational skills.
· Demonstrated knowledge in computer software applications i.e. MS Office-Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. and Information Technology skills.
· Must be a team player and work with minimal supervision and/or independently.
· Be familiar with and understand First Nation barriers/issues/culture and having the ability to speak Cree/Dene is considered a valuable asset.
