The Peer Support Worker is part of the collaborative service team at HOMEBASE Moose Jaw, a one-stop youth hub connecting young people with the right services at the right time. The role supports a multidisciplinary approach focused on early intervention, education, employment, & overall well-being.
The PositionAs a front-line team member, the Peer Support Worker engages youth from a peer perspective, providing emotional & social support, co-facilitating programs, & connecting youth with HOMEBASE & community resources. This role emphasizes helping youth access education, training, & employment opportunities while working collaboratively with partner agencies. Key Responsibilities
Welcome youth & complete intake as the first point of contact.
Provide one-on-one & group support for education, employment, & training.
Connect youth with HOMEBASE partners & community resources.
Assist with post-secondary applications & explore alternative education pathways.
Support employment readiness through resume writing, job applications, interview preparation, & job training.
Conduct outreach, presentations, recruitment, & community engagement activities.
Participate in the service delivery team.
Maintain documentation, data collection, & administrative tasks, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, data entry, & light housekeeping.
Help maintain a safe, welcoming environment & perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Lived experience with mental health &/or addictions recovery is an asset, with willingness to share experiences appropriately.
Knowledge of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, community resources, & local mental health & addictions services.
Strong peer support, communication, empathy, problem-solving, & time management skills.
Passion for supporting youth ages 12-25.
Flexibility to work evenings & weekends & participate in ongoing training.
Grade 12 diploma required; post-secondary an asset.
Valid driver's license
CRC with VSC
