Support Workers, Based in North Battleford

The Support Worker will assist individual(s) experiencing disability with individualized supports to help them achieve their independent living skills goals and increase their self-support skills.

Duties include:
-  Teaching daily living skills (e.g., housework, budgeting, cooking, interpersonal relations and/or personal care issues)
-  Assisting with interactions involving community professionals (e.g., doctors, landlords, social workers, etc.)
-  Finding meaningful activities
-  Assisting the client in managing socially appropriate behaviours
-  Providing personal care support as required
-  Documenting client progress and reporting regularly to the Program Senior Supervisor
-  Driving clients using a personal vehicle and willingness to travel within the rural community
Qualifications:
Education:
-  Disability or Rehabilitation Support Worker Certificate and/or related training and experience
-  Valid Class 5 Drivers License and ongoing access to a reliable vehicle
-  Valid First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or willingness to obtain within three months
-  Additional courses such as TLR and PART would be considered an asset
Experience:
-  One year experience in related field
-  Experience supporting individuals through Supported Independent Living Program (SILP) services or similar community-based programs would be considered an asset.

-  Open minded, creative, and resourceful approach to supporting individuals
-  Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work effectively with individuals experiencing disabilities, co-workers and community partners
