Course Number and Title: ENV361H1S Social Media and Environmentalism
Course Description: This course examines the impacts of the internet on environmental thinking and policy-making. Topics include the use of social media as a tool for community-building and collaborative design, the sharing economy, online protest movements, mass surveillance and its implications, and the impact of misinformation on climate denialism.

Salary:
- Sessional Lecturer I - $9,997.48
- Sessional Lecturer I Long-Term - $10,699.22
- Sessional Lecturer II - $10,699.22
- Sessional Lecturer II Long-Term - $10,953.96
- Sessional Lecturer III - $10,953.96
- Sessional Lecturer III Long-Term - $11,228.90
Please note that should rates stipulated in the Collective Agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the Collective Agreement shall prevail.
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD in relevant area of study or equivalent professional and/or academic experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant academic or professional publications and previous experience teaching a similar undergraduate course are highly desirable.
Description of Duties:
- Develop a detailed syllabus and curriculum for the course
- Teach the course in an in-person format
- Evaluate student performance
- Hold office hours and meet with students as they request
- Manage teaching assistant(s)
- Handle other pedagogical and administrative tasks ordinarily associated with teaching an undergraduate course
