The Planning, Development and Real Estate department is seeking an auxiliary Technical Assistant 2 to join the Development Services team.  

The Development Services team is responsible for ensuring development Projects meet the City’s off-site infrastructure requirements, including municipal servicing, access, streetscape improvements, utility coordination, subdivision conditions, etc.  In this role, you will provide technical and administrative support to the team by assisting with permit processing, technical records, development tracking, site inspections, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical and administrative support to the Development Services team in the delivery of development-related projects. 
• Review and process minor development applications, including tenant improvements (TIs), renovations, and other low-complexity projects, in accordance with established policies, procedures, and municipal requirements. 
• Review applications for completeness and assist with tracking permits, approvals, and project milestones. 
• Prepare and process off-site utility permits and assist with the issuance of works permits. 
• Prepare AutoCAD service drawings and coordinate the circulation of engineering drawings, servicing plans, and technical documents to internal departments and external agencies. 
• Assist with subdivision tracking, financial tracking, and other development processing activities. 
• Assist with processing development-related fees, deposits, invoices, refunds by coordinating supporting documentation and maintaining accurate records. 
• Maintain project records, electronic filing systems, as-constructed records, and schedules of assets. Collect and review Substantial Completion and project close-out documentation for completeness, including as-constructed drawings and supporting documentation.
• Assist with field checks and site inspections as required. 
• Respond to BC One Call requests and inquiries related to municipal infrastructure. 
• Respond to routine inquiries from consultants, contractors, developers, utility providers, and members of the public by phone, email, and at the public counter, referring technical matters to appropriate staff. 
• Prepare routine correspondence, permit documentation, and standard templates. 
• Perform other related technical and administrative duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Building Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents. 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook). Experience with AutoCAD is an asset. 
• Experience with GIS, Infor Public Sector or similar municipal software is an asset. 
• Strong organizational, communication, customer service, and record management skills, with attention to detail. 
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and work effectively in a team environment. 
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License. 

Salary:
$37.09 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits 
(Pay Grade 19 – 2026 rates)

Hours of Work:
Auxiliary. Hours of work will vary based on operational needs.
