Sr. Test Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Test Engineer based in Canada.

This is a senior QA opportunity focused on ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of applications in Agile and Scrum environments.
You’ll take ownership of comprehensive testing activities, from test case creation and execution through defect management and validation.
The role combines functional, integration, and regression testing with close collaboration across engineering and business teams.
You’ll help translate functional and technical requirements into effective testing strategies and actionable quality standards.
The position also offers the opportunity to improve testing processes and identify areas where automation can increase efficiency and coverage.
You’ll work independently while contributing to multiple Scrum teams and supporting complex technology initiatives.

• Perform integration, regression, and functional testing to ensure applications meet business, technical, and system requirements.
• Create, review, maintain, and execute comprehensive test cases for new and modified systems.
• Analyze functional and technical requirements and translate them into effective testing scenarios and quality criteria.
• Identify, document, track, and manage defects through resolution while ensuring appropriate validation and follow-up.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders and Scrum teams within Agile delivery environments.
• Support multiple teams and complex assignments while maintaining consistent quality and testing standards.
• Apply established software engineering disciplines, change-control standards, and testing procedures throughout the development lifecycle.
• Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to maintaining engineering and quality standards.
• Provide insights and recommendations to improve testing processes, coverage, efficiency, and overall product quality.
• Identify opportunities for test automation and contribute to approaches that support Test Driven Development where appropriate.
• Work independently while adapting to evolving technologies, methodologies, and testing approaches.
• Use analytical and problem-solving skills to investigate issues, reconcile results, and identify root causes.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience working in Scrum and Agile environments.
• Extensive experience across the full software testing lifecycle, including test case development, test execution, defect management, and validation.
• Strong experience performing functional, integration, and regression testing.
• Advanced analytical, quantitative, deductive reasoning, reconciliation, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to accuracy and quality.
• Experience with Automated Change Management and established change-control processes.
• Strong proficiency with word-processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
• Ability to understand and analyze functional and technical requirements and convert them into comprehensive testing scenarios.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across Scrum and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and take ownership of complex testing assignments.
• Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and testing methodologies.
• 3+ years of experience with test automation tools and approaches supporting Test Driven Development is preferred.
