Senior Distributed Platform Developer

Job Summary

RBC Capital Market's Data Fabric team is implementing a modern platform to provide and control access to data across the enterprise and is looking for a highly capable Senior Distributed Software Developer to assist with the challenge. The role will involve designing and developing distributed software to move and protect data, as well as the administrative interfaces to control the system. We work as an Agile team, you will be tasked with implementing functional and system use cases, supporting test cases, as well as integrating it into the deployment pipeline.

What is the Opportunity?

To help implement and extend our data security fabric, through architecting, designing, implementing and integrating it with the data landscape at RBC Capital Markets.

What will you do?

• Develop and maintain a data access control platform, integrated with all enterprise data sources and applications

• Implement test cases sufficient to demonstrate its completeness in an automated test harness

• Participate in the architecting and design process, and feedback on its effectiveness

• Mentor and support junior resources as the team grows

• Integrate with an Agile team, providing support and feedback for the team members

• Report status, respect deadlines, maintain quality

• Stay current with industry trends

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience

• Expert level Java skills

• Enjoy contributing to a team, and working with others

• Quick to learn

• Deadline-driven and results-oriented; able to meet consistently high quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously

• Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication skills along with strong interpersonal skills

Nice-to-have:

• Experience in Finance/Banking, specifically Capital Markets/Investment Banking

• Experience in a matrix environment: large, publicly-traded corporation

• Experience with distributed data engineering

• Experience with Data Science/Data Analytics
