Primary Function: Under the general direction of the Supervisor, Sales and Service, this position provides solutions and easily connects with onsite customers. The Sales & Service Representative's objective is to capitalize on sales opportunities, create customer loyalty, and exceed customer expectations by using their guidance, knowledge, computer acumen, and winning attitude. Sales & Service Representatives have excellent all-around communication skills as well as the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively. The role lives and demonstrates the Grainger Principles: Starting with the Customer, Embrace Curiosity, Act with Intent, Compete with Urgency, Win as One Team, Invest in our Success and Do the Right Thing. This role follows a 7-days-on, 7-days-off rotation with 12-hour shifts. Shifts alternate between days and nights, switching upon return from the 7-day break. Primary Duties & Responsibilities: - Ownership of the entire customer experience. This includes appropriate product selection, accurate order entry and maintenance, accurately and safely picking product, and safely loading customer vehicle as needed.
- Consistently performs actions with branch sales focus to capitalize on sales opportunities and encourage customer loyalty to deliver revenue targets.
- Promote company products and services to customers and provide substitutions where required
- Maintain well-rounded knowledge of products and tools
- Processing customer transactions at a tool crib or store location.
- Providing customer updates when required on delivery, lead times, quotes, etc.
- Management and tasks related to refilling vending machines and Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI)
- Collaborating with customer on program/product updates for vending/VMI program
- Conducting day-to-day execution of the Tool Management Program
- Processing customer Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)/Purchase Order (PO) transactions and coordinating with customer on any required adjustments.
- Contact client end-users who have placed e-commerce orders to inform them of order readiness at predetermined drop point.
- Service the customer's specific needs, included but not limited to Vendor Managed Inventory, vending unit replenishment etc.
- Participation in continuous improvement (CI) team meetings and CI on-site initiatives as required.
- Learn and easily navigate through various computer systems and applications for customer facing and warehousing activities.
- Agility to shift focus seamlessly from assisting customers to other various branch tasks specific to customer operations.
- Maintain knowledge and ensure compliance of Grainger and customer specific life-saving rules, courses and site safety training
- Perform housekeeping duties as needed to ensure branch appearance meets Grainger standards
- Take and respond to emergency customer calls after hours with the ability to work extended hours including evenings and weekends, as business needs may require. Preferred Education & Experience: - Highschool Diploma or equivalent preferred. 1-3 years of experience in related field preferred.
- Valid driver's license and clean drivers abstract is required.
- The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, taking action to achieve goals beyond what is required.
- Previous experience and/or knowledge of industrial and/or safety products is preferred
- Demonstrated strong work ethic, "wowing the customer", and personal commitment to get the job done
- Team player with an ability of working independently while managing multiple tasks.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with proven ability to adhere to tight deadlines
- Proficient computer skills and aptitude
- Knowledge of dangerous goods and WHMIS regulations is required
- Own your personal development, accept feedback, and be proactive with your leader to support your growth
- Successful and timely completion of initial and ongoing training as required This role may require you to attend customers' sites and adhere to safety requirements in accordance with applicable health and safety legislation, as it relates to wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) on certain customer sites. This may include: a hard hat; steel-toed safety boots, clean shaven or trimmed moustache/beard in order to wear a close-fitted N95 mask or other required PPE. Details of these requirements will be provided during the recruitment process. Some customers may have alcohol and drug screening policies for on-site contractors and vendors. You may be required to submit to such customer screening procedures as and when requested as a condition of being permitted on such sites.
