Department of Health and Community Services
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Health Workforce Planning, the Manager plays a critical role in the development and implementation of comprehensive workforce strategies that support a sustainable, well-distributed, and highly skilled health workforce across the province in partnership with NL Health Services and other stakeholders. The Manager is responsible for workforce data through the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of a provincial minimum data set (MDS), enabling consistent, high quality health workforce data collection ensuring that workforce information is accurate, timely, and suitable for advanced analytics, modeling, and decision making. The Manager works within the strategic and operational plans of the Department of Health and Community Services to develop recommendations to address key workforce issues and trends. The Manager collaborates closely with other government departments; NL Health Services senior leadership and human resources teams; post-secondary institutions; unions, regulatory bodies and other key partners, leads provincial committees and participates in national forums to advance health workforce planning strategies. The role also involves managing market adjustment proposals, leading provincial committees and contributing to national forums to help shape and advance health workforce planning approaches. In addition, the Manager supports the development of policies, programs, and initiatives that strengthen recruitment, retention, and workforce sustainability across the system.
Screening Criteria
1. Completion of a bachelor’s degree in social sciences, business or health related field (equivalencies will be considered)
2. Experience analyzing and evaluating data using analytical tools (i.e. Power BI, Excel, or other)
3. Experience writing reports, policies, or other written materials for executive decision-making
4. Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders in implementing planning initiatives
5. Experience in health human resources or health labour market planning (asset)
