Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)

Job Responsibility:

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care for animals while assisting veterinarians in various clinical procedures. Previous experience in an emergency veterinary clinic is an asset, however we are willing to train the right candidate.

This is a permanent part-time role. We ask for a minimum of two 12-hour shifts per month to be covered by our part-time staff, however more hours are available if desired.

Responsibilities

• Triage pets on arrival to clinic and escalate critical cases appropriately.
• Perform laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis, to aid in diagnosis.
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
• Competently perform general anesthetic induction, monitoring and recovery.
• Monitor the health and behavior of animals pre- and post-surgery.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
• Prepare animals for surgery by ensuring proper anesthesia protocols are followed.
• Educate pet owners on post-operative care and general animal health practices.
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic.
• Provide compassionate care to all animals in the clinic.

Requirements

• Certification or degree in Veterinary Technology from an accredited program.
• Registration status with the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians is required. New graduates pursuing registration will still be considered.
• Strong laboratory skills, including familiarity with diagnostic equipment and procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners and team members.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Physical stamina to handle the demands of the job, including lifting animals when necessary.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $25.00-$32.00 per hour
