Obstetrician / Gynecologist (Full Time)

Northumberland Hills Hospital is seeking a full‑time Obstetrician / Gynecologist. Practice opportunities include primary and consultation obstetrics, gynecologic surgery (minimally invasive laparoscopic), outpatient clinics and emergency department consultation.

Maternal Child Care Program at NHH

The program provides low‑risk obstetrical care (Level 1) with approximately 550 births per year and capacity to grow. The birthing unit offers a family‑centered environment with six labour and delivery beds, a dedicated C‑section operating suite, and an advanced fetal and patient monitoring system.

Team composition includes registered nurses specialized in obstetrical/ newborn care, obstetricians, family physicians, midwives, anesthetists, respiratory therapists, pharmacy staff, dietitians, social workers, and volunteers. The program follows the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists guidelines and the MoreOB risk‑management program. NHH is pursuing Baby‑Friendly Initiative accreditation and offers breastfeeding support.

Terms of Employment

• Fellowship in Obstetrics/Gynecology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
• Licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (or eligibility for licensure in Ontario)
• Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work effectively with all department and team disciplines in an interprofessional setting
• Demonstrated commitment to continuing medical education in a related field
• Ability to integrate evidence and best practice into quality care delivery
• Support for obstetrics privileges and midwifery colleagues of family physicians

Skill Requirements

• Full‑spectrum general obstetrics and gynecology scope of practice
• Affiliated with three major universities (Toronto, Queen’s, and Ottawa) and recognized educational site for Family Medicine residents and undergraduates

Work Experience

Applicants must be experienced, competent, and up‑to‑date with general obstetrics and gynecology.

Remuneration / Benefits Package

Remuneration is based on a daily stipend, with travel and accommodations covered.
