Aviva Canada is searching for a Marine Insurance Underwriting Specialist to join our corporate Marine underwriting team.

This hybrid position focuses on evaluating complex risks and market strategies.

As a Marine Underwriting Specialist, you will play a vital role in Aviva’s GCS Corporate Risk initiative. Your work will revolve around underwriting Marine risks, assessing market trends, and maintaining strong relationships with brokers.

You will also mentor junior underwriters, supporting their qualified growth alongside your own.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite complex Marine new business and renewals
• Support risk selection and pricing adequacy
• Provide expert guidance on Marine policy wordings
• Identify loss trends and provide recommendations
• Build rapport with internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

• At least 6 years of experience in Marine insurance
• Strong technical judgment and negotiation skills
• Excellent analytical and governance approach
• Proven ability to manage portfolio performance
• Effective collaboration with teams
