Boyle Street is launching the wâwâhtêwa Arts and Culture Hub , a welcoming and inclusive public space open to all people. The wâwâhtêwa Hub will offer a range of services centered on access to intentional arts and cultural programming, while also providing a safe place for coffee, companionship, basic needs, and supported connection to resources for neighbours experiencing vulnerability. Rooted in strong community engagement and positive relationship-building, the wâwâhtêwa Hub will serve as a vital starting point for individuals to connect with resources, express themselves creatively, and build meaningful pathways toward well-being. The Program Manager will play a key leadership role in overseeing the daily operations, guiding a multidisciplinary team, and ensuring the wâwâhtêwa Hub remains a vibrant, culturally rich, and trauma-informed space for all who walk through its doors.

The wâwâhtêwa Arts and Culture Hub Manager will be responsible for supervising the support workers, case manager, volunteers, and programming processes. You will liaise with community partners to ensure their needs are being met and the relationships are being nurtured. The manager is responsible to make sure all program mandates are met and up to the standards of BSCS philosophies.

Position Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evaluate arts and cultural programming that is trauma-informed, inclusive, and accessible to vulnerable community members.
• Ensure that programming aligns with the organization's mission, values, and strategic goals.
• Engage participants in co-creating programming that reflects their interests, cultures, and experiences.
• Overall responsibility for the management of arts and culture hub
• Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and performance management to one case worker and three support workers, volunteers, partners, and community stakeholders.
• Build and maintain partnerships with local artists, cultural organizations, Indigenous knowledge keepers, and service providers that is mutually beneficial.
• Prepare regular reports for internal and external audiences to demonstrate program impact, ensure accountability, and inform strategic decision-making - as this is a new program ensuring measures of outcomes and success will be key.
• Contribute to strategic planning efforts for the broader organization and advocate for the arts as a key pillar of community support.
• Work with the Senior Manager and Finance to set and manage budgets on an annual basis
• Brief colleagues on internal and external emerging opportunities, issues, trends and learnings in your area of work
• Work collaboratively with other departments to plan, coordinate, and deliver integrated programming through the wâwâhtêwa Hub
• BSCS is more than a workplace. It is a community where everyone helps and contributes to the whole, and there is an expectation that all employees will take part in events (during the work week and occasionally during weekends and evenings). This includes fundraising campaigns, running community meals, medicine picking etc.

Qualifications

• Post Secondary Degree in a relevant field of study and/or relevant work experience
• Understanding of the role of arts and culture in healing, empowerment, and community building.
• Experience or familiarity with arts programming (e.g., visual arts, music, storytelling, cultural traditions) is a strong asset as well as experience working alongside Indigenous peoples of Treaty 6, 7 and 8
• Proven ability to develop, implement, and evaluate community-based programs.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with artists, cultural facilitators, partner agencies, and internal departments.
• Experience with Indigenous ways of knowing and being, and knowledge regarding the importance of traditional Indigenous Ceremonies.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in program management, ideally in a non-profit or social services setting.
• Experience working with vulnerable populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, or substance use.
• Familiarity with grant reporting and donor/stakeholder communication.
• Police Check with the Vulnerable Sector and Child and Youth Intervention Check completed within the past six months
• Valid First Aid certificate or enrolled in a future course
• Valid Class 5 Non GDL license and access to a reliable vehicle
