Plant Manager

Trevor Frances Recruitment is supporting a confidential search for an experienced and hands-on Plant Manager to lead operations at a highly technical molded foam manufacturing facility in the North York/Scarborough area.

This is an exciting opportunity for a strong operational leader who thrives in a technical process manufacturing environment, specifically within molded foam and mold injection manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day plant operations, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and foster a positive, high-performance culture across the facility.

We are seeking a leader who understands the complexities of molded foam production, production timing, process flow, scheduling, and mold injection operations, and who is equally comfortable reviewing KPIs and production schedules as they are walking the floor, coaching teams, solving problems in real time, and building engagement across the operation.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Manufacturing Excellence

• Lead all day-to-day operations within a technical molded foam and mold injection manufacturing environment, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, cost, and production targets are consistently achieved.

• Drive operational performance through strong production planning, scheduling, and workflow optimization.

• Oversee technical manufacturing processes, including mold injection operations, production timing, sequencing, throughput, and process efficiency.

• Champion a positive, accountable, and high-performing plant culture through visible and engaged leadership.

• Develop and execute initiatives focused on operational excellence, productivity improvements, and waste reduction.

• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement best practices using Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and root-cause problem-solving methodologies.

Performance & Leadership

• Maintain accountability for plant performance metrics and operational outcomes.

• Establish, monitor, and report on key KPIs across safety, quality, productivity, and delivery.

• Lead, coach, and develop plant staff and supervisors to achieve operational excellence.

• Foster strong cross-functional relationships across internal teams and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience, ideally in a Plant Manager, Operations Manager, or Production leadership capacity.

• Experience in molded foam, mold injection, polyurethane, plastics, automotive foam, furniture, mattress, or related process manufacturing environments strongly preferred.

• Strong technical and operational acumen with an engineering mindset and ability to understand complex manufacturing systems and processes.

• Proven experience managing production scheduling, operational planning, and throughput optimization.

• Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate teams and drive accountability.

• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or Six Sigma methodologies is considered an asset.

• University degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
