About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our growing team!

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop end-to-end AI solutions for real business cases with a product mindset and measurable impact.
  • Lead AI projects across exploration, implementation, testing, and monitoring, de-risking ambiguous problem spaces.
  • Translate complex, unstructured data into actionable insights; define hypotheses, success metrics, and iterate based on results.
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand needs and convert them into scalable technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, business SMEs, developers, designers, in a cross-functional team to build AI solutions in AWS.
  • Act as a technical lead and reference for data science team.
  • Use analytics to understand software usage patterns and give recommendations on improvements.
  • Coach and mentor junior members of the team.
  • Lead and enforce data science best practices: coding, peer-review, experimentation and testing.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (computer science, mathematics, AI, engineering, or a related field), or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in data science applications and product development, with a strong focus on NLP and machine learning.
  • Strong communication, leadership, mentorship, and AI project management skills; proven experience guiding junior team members and influencing cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), integrating with APIs, evaluation techniques, prompt engineering, and applying agentic system patterns (planning, tool‑use/function calling, orchestration, and guardrails).
  • Experience with developing, deploying, and maintaining software in cloud environments (strong preference for AWS); familiarity with building reliable LLM/NLP pipelines in production.
  • Multi‑platform production experience with Python, GitHub, AWS, and CI/CD tools.
  • Expert‑level understanding of the underlying theory of machine learning and modern NLP/LLM techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to structure and execute work in ambiguous problem spaces, defining hypotheses, success metrics, and iterating toward outcomes.
  • Product mindset with a track record of translating insights into user and business impact; proactive self‑starter who identifies opportunities and takes initiative end‑to‑end.
  • Ability to collaborate with others and to coach junior members of staff; strong stakeholder communication across diverse backgrounds.
  • Enthusiasm for teamwork and ability to communicate with colleagues of diverse backgrounds.
  • No Canadian work experience required; however, must be eligible to work in Canada.
