Senior Payment Engineering Technical Leader

Shape Citi’s next-generation payment technology with AI-enabled engineering, observability, and resilient distributed systems across a hybrid environment.As Senior Lead Software Engineer, you will define technical direction for Core Payment Systems supporting global transaction infrastructure. The role combines leadership with hands-on engineering across microservices, messaging, containers, databases, and zero-disruption delivery. You will also integrate AI-powered developer tools and AI/ML capabilities into production payment workflows.Key Responsibilities:
Guide cross-functional engineers through technical deliveryIntegrate AI-powered tools into development workflowsApply anomaly detection and intelligent test generationEstablish distributed tracing, alerting, and dashboardsTranslate financial requirements into maintainable solutionsRequirements:
Experience scaling AI-powered development tools enterprise-wideHands-on observability experience in microservices environmentsKnowledge of Circuit Breakers and Saga orchestrationExperience designing idempotent payment APIsFamiliarity with SWIFT, ISO 20022, or settlement systemsCombine technical leadership, AI-enabled delivery, and observability expertise to advance Citi’s resilient global payment engineering systems.
