The Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) is invi ng applica ons for a Regional Recrea on Programmer posi on.

The Regional Recrea on Programmer is responsible for planning, organizing and maintaining recrea on programs, ac vi es, training, events & volunteer opportuni es which are delivered in a variety of parks and facili es across the RDCK.

The Programmer works collabora vely with facility staff & community groups. This posi on requires a high level of crea vity, innova on and flexibility in order to develop recrea on opportuni es which support service goals of the RDCK & meet the needs of individuals & the community.

This posi on is primarily based out of the Nelson & Dis- trict Community Complex.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: ? Demonstrates success, developing, organizing and

implemen ng a variety of inclusive recrea on programs, ac vi es, and events ?

Proven ability to plan, set, and achieve goals in large scale events and for all ages ?

Demonstrates ability to develop strong rela onships ? A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid

nega on, problem solving, conflict resolu on, and people management skills ?

Demonstrated ability to plan, monitor and maintain department and program budgets. ?

Demonstrated ability to meet various deadlines in a constantly changing service environment. ?

High degree of resourcefulness, crea vity, flexibility, and adaptability. ?

Strong verbal and wri en communica on skills. ? Excellent customer service and public rela on skills. This is a full- me term posi on of 35 hours per week and offers a comprehensive benefits package including paid vaca on me, extended health and dental coverage and a generous pension plan. The normal hourly rate is $40.60 but ranges between $38.84- $44.13 per hour, dependent on experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: ? Degree in Recrea on Administra on ? Two years of related experience programming for

mul -genera on age groups in a variety of recrea on se ngs. ?

Acceptable equivalent combina on of educa on and experience. ?

Experience with Recrea on So ware including registra on, bookings and administra on func ons ?

Event Management experience ? Experience or knowledge in the opera ons of public

recrea on facili es ? Training and experience in computerized work

environment with high level of knowledge in MS Office ? Valid B.C Drivers' License and safe driving record ? Standard First Aid, CPR-level C, AED ? Sa sfactory Criminal Record
