Program Manager, Public & Government Affairs

Hybrid – Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Full time.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor parliamentary activity: daily house proceedings, committee and senate activity.
  • Track and synthesize government announcements, legislation, and regulatory developments.
  • Oversee the preparation and timely delivery of monitoring reports, alerts, and summaries.
  • Identify and elevate emerging issues, policy shifts, and political developments of relevance.
  • Ensure quality control and consistency across monitoring outputs.
  • Serve as a day‑to‑day point of contact for select client needs.
  • Support client leads: schedule meetings, develop agendas, manage logistics.
  • Attend client calls/meetings; take clear, accurate notes and track follow‑ups.
  • Draft client‑ready summaries of monitoring outputs, discussions, and key takeaways.
  • Respond to routine client requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Track tasks and ensure deadlines met across monitoring and ad‑hoc projects.
  • Maintain organized trackers and documentation for client workstreams.Support senior team members in managing account priorities and resourcing.
  • Conduct research on policy issues, government stakeholders, and political dynamics.
  • Develop background briefs, stakeholder profiles, and issue summaries.
  • Translate complex political and policy developments into clear, actionable insights for clients.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong understanding of Canadian politics, public policy, and parliamentary processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to synthesize information into clear, client‑ready materials.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities; experience managing multiple workstreams and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and previous public affairs experience is an asset.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong quality control instincts.
  • Professional and confident in junior‑level client interactions.
  • Proactive, accountable, and able to manage competing priorities.Strong judgment in identifying relevant developments and implications.
  • Collaborative team player with a solutions‑oriented mindset.
