Job Summary
Walter Surface Technology is growing rapidly and is launching a major program to transform its ERP environment. The ERP Software Developer is responsible for the analysis, development and implementation of major new functionalities and capabilities to optimize our ERP Ecosystem.
This person will also be in charge of providing maintenance and 2nd level support of existing systems and applications to our internal customers.
Responsibilities
- Analysze and develop new applications in accordiance with specifications and user reqruiements.
- Create and/or prototype new solutions to enhance business processes, operations, and data flow.
- Effectively uses Setup, Configuration, Personalization and Prototyping in sandbox environments to evaluate and propose application level enhancements and to implement new features, functionalities, and capabilities.
- Performs a variety of tasks related to Application production support, including bug identification, program fixes and program documentation.
- Where required, uses his/her software development skills to write code modifications.
- Communicates software changes to consultants when developments require the intervention of external resources.
- Work collaboratively with IT Demand Management on Change Requests, managing issues and establishing priorities.
- Supports local and remote users by troubleshooting and resolving problems with applications and systems. When required, meet with users in their physical work environment to gain a thorough understanding of their needs and/or problem(s).
- Provides Level 2 application support and escalates to Level 3 where appropriate.
- Keep up to date with developments and news in their field and shares knowledge with team members.
- This is a hybrid position: you will work at both our Head Office location in Pointe Claire and remotely from home.
Skills and abilities
- Possesses hands-on experience working in an applications support/development environment.
- Expertise in designing, developing, and implementing re-engineered business processes and associated software and hardware.
- Very good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Fluent in French and English, both in oral and written communication.
- Naturally curious and creative individual with a drive to find solutions to problems, and a passion for innovation.
- Ability to multi-task, effectively prioritize work, and adapt during pressured situations.
Knowledge
Must
- Experience in the hardgoods distribution industry, with knowledge of supply chain and warehouse operations.
- Prior experience with one or more ERP systems and related applications in a distribution / supply chain environment.
- Experience with EDI standards and B2B implementations.
- Experience with SQL statements and relational databases.
- Experience with Java or other object-oriented programming language.
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of Tecsys ERP Software.
- Familiarity with the following: Jasper, XML, Web Services (SOAP), APIs.
- Knowledge of Oracle database.
- Knowledge of IGUANA (LUA) software.
- Knowledge and experience in WEB development.
Experience and education
- University Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- 4 to 6 years of work experience in business analysis, software configuration and software development.
