Network Specialist (Etobicoke)

Role Summary

The Network Specialist is responsible for supporting and maintaining the organization’s enterprise network and voice infrastructure across on‑premises and cloud environments. The role focuses on performance, security, and reliability, involving proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, and implementation of security controls, network resilience, and standard procedures. The specialist collaborates with cross‑functional teams to continuously improve network services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Network and Voice workplace (on/off prem) as part of a team of Technology Specialists.
  • Configure and administer routing and switching equipment, hosted Teams Phones (Voice), Operator Connect, firewalls, SD‑WAN solutions, load balancers, and branch Wi‑Fi.
  • Recommend, plan, and implement Azure networking solutions.
  • Deploy networking solutions using the Azure Portal, PowerShell, Azure CLI, and ARM templates.
  • Maximize network performance by monitoring, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with other specialists on optimization.
  • Secure network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, defining and monitoring access.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that the infrastructure technology is compatible with current standards and aligns with future goals.
  • Execute defined maintenance plans as part of IT preventive strategy for infrastructure stability and reliability.
  • Design and implement new solutions and improve resilience of the current environment.
  • Support and administer firewall environments in line with IT security policy.
  • Assist in building and maintaining standard operating procedures for all assigned technologies.

Technical Skills

  • Expertise on LAN, WAN, VXLAN, WLAN, Wi‑Fi built on Cisco network infrastructure.
  • Expertise on managing Teams Phones platform, call queues, and Operator Connect hosted services.
  • Experience in planning, implementing, and maintaining Azure networking solutions, including hybrid networking, connectivity, routing, security, and private access to Azure services.
  • Detail IP routing knowledge (OSPF, BGP, MPLS‑based IP VPNs).
  • Experience with Network Load Balancers and SD‑WAN solutions.
  • Knowledge and hands‑on expertise on Palo Alto firewalls and Zero Trust Networking.
  • Knowledge of Windows Networking Services (DNS, DHCP, DFSR).
  • Voice technologies: SIP, H.323, SCCP, RTP protocols.
  • Voice codecs e.g. G711/G729.
  • Cisco IOS hands‑on expertise.
  • Virtual Server Technologies expertise.

Non‑Technical Skills

  • Prioritize and plan workload to meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to interact with and build effective relationships at all levels.
  • Work with third‑party vendors to ensure commitments are met and delivered on time.
  • Service oriented and customer focused, with enthusiasm and tenacity to meet team goals.
  • Comfortable learning and adopting new digital tools, openness to AI‑enabled technology.

Education, Designation & Experience

8+ years of related industry/professional experience managing technologies in a complex, multi‑platform computing/network environment with responsibility for problem identification and resolution. Required: Network engineering diploma or equivalent. Preferred: CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE; Certified Azure Network Engineer.

Work Environment

Hybrid work opportunity: remote work policy allows flexibility but requires a minimum of one day per week in the office to collaborate with the team. Employees may travel to the St. Catharines office as needed.

Compensation

Salary range: $68,800 to $103,200 CAD. Location: Toronto – 3280 Bloor Street West or St. Catharines – 75 Corporate Park Drive.
