Job Responsibility:

Job Summary Fallentimber Meadery is 3rd generation honey producer and one of Canada's largest mead (alcoholic beverages made from honey) producers. We are known for producing an exceptionally high quality, pure, unpasteurized liquid honey that is truly unique and for our flagship product, the Meadjito - a refreshing take on the mojito, but made with fermented honey instead of rum. In addition to honey and mead, we recently launched a line of line of Honey-Kissed Sodas which offer an all-natural, low-calorie alternative to other beverages on the market.

We have spent the last 15 years developing a thriving market for mead in Alberta - a province that produces more than 40% of Canada's honey - and we are now looking to leverage this growing consumer awareness to expand into more grocery and restaurant customers with our premium honey and sodas.

Our farm gate location has served as a key focal point for customers - a place where people come for an afternoon escape, to tour our facilities, learn how our products are made, sample our newest offerings and relax in our little paradise at the end of the gravel road.

As a farm gate sales representative, you will act as a key link to the community and will help us share our story and our products with our most enthusiastic customers. To be successful in this role, you must have a genuine passion for communication and relationship building as well as an authentic interest in bees, honey, and our beverage offerings. Self-motivation, strong work ethic, verbal communication skills, patience and pride in our community are essential to success in this role.

Responsibilities

• Greeting and serving customers, presenting samples and offering product education
• Develop relationships and building brand awareness with key customers
• Help plan, setup and manage farm gate events, weddings, concerts
• Cleaning taproom, washrooms, deck and greenspace, keeping shelves stocked and organized
• Collect and wash glassware, help bus tables and manage dishes from food service vendors
• Cash management at point of sale, checkout, and delivery of cash to accounts receivable
• Support with in-store product demos at liquor and grocery stores in the area

Qualifications

• Self-motivated, customer focused and extraverted.
• Reliable and willing to work weekends, and some long shifts around events
• Physically capable of lifting flats and cases of product, ~40lbs, to shoulder height
• Previous retail sales experience, serving experience or educational background is a plus
• Valid ProServe and food safety certification an asset

Compensation

• This is a seasonal position, beginning in May and ending in September
• Farm Gate Hours are Saturday & Sunday, 11:00 am - 7:30 pm
• Additional hours are available for in store product sampling during the week
• $15/hour plus commission based on gross sales
• Vacation pay of 4% and stat holiday pay
• Employee pricing on company's products
