Senior Data and Reporting Analyst

Job Responsibility:

Job Summary

Manages the development, implementation and support of business analytics initiatives and projects. Applies experience and seasoned knowledge, skills, and practices to perform a variety of assignments. Provides third level support of reporting tool environments and infrastructure, as well as consulting and technical expertise on implementation of tools to support business and technical requirements.

What will you do?

• Identifying, sizing and prioritizing business opportunities for improvement through analytics.
• Assessing the scope and resources required of various analytics projects and working with manager to define necessary resources.
• Managing client relations to ensure that expectations for dashboards are managed, and fulfilled.
• Develops, maintains and supports Tableau dashboards including any automated processes in place to populate the dashboards.
• Develops, maintains and supports ETL processes to populate the dashboards. (PYTHON, SQL)
• Work with various support teams to ensure requirements are met by infrastructure using reporting tools (Tableau, ServiceNow, Excel)
• Monitoring and communicating key performance metrics and operational challenges.
• Support Application infrastructure during business hours. (Database, server)
• Some application custodian delegate activities.
• Perform POCs on automation, AI and analysis on reporting and automation tools.

EXECUTION AND OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE

• Develops, maintains and supports Tableau dashboards including any automated ETL processes in place to populate the dashboards.
• Provide day-to-day support and escalation as required for faults and problems.
• Work with various support teams to ensure requirements are met by infrastructure using reporting tools (Tableau, ServiceNow, Excel)
• Explores alternative options and recommends technology solutions and designs that meet sponsor needs and project life cycle deliverables
• Works closely with third party vendors as required.
• Takes part in small to large group meetings for technical design, report design, decision making, problem solving and task implementation.
• Conduct maintenance of all aspects of the supported Tableau infrastructure used by Resiliency team.
• Ensures that all issues are addressed in a timely manner and as set out in operational level agreements and conduct reviews at the end of each quarter

PROJECTS AND INITIATIVES

• Assesses, researches and analyzes business and system needs, exploring alternative options to recommend technology solutions and designs that meet sponsor needs and PLC deliverables including component reusability, data sharing and security.
• Develops proposals for senior management.
• Contributes to successful project completion by identifying risks and developing and/or recommending mitigation strategies.
• Assist in projects/investigations as assigned.
• Gather requirements for projects from stakeholders.
• Promote and enforce best practices for Tableau, Reporting and Resiliency initiatives
• Works with enterprise Resiliency teams in the delivery, testing and implementation of services as required.
• Ensures that a high quality of service is provided to clients.
• Assist where applicable in the design of new Tableau and reporting dashboards, reports and services.
• Champion Tableau and resiliency team needs and work with various units and teams to deliver on time and within budget.

Planning, Implementation & Support

• Performs performance tuning to improve performance of tool environments
• Performs capacity planning and environment management for reporting tool environments.
• Provides 7.5hrsx5 days a week third level support to the reporting tool environments

Relationships & Communication

• Effectively communicates and builds rapport with team members, stakeholders and interface groups using a variety of techniques and collaboration from initiation to close.
• Facilitates small group meetings for technical design, report design, decision making, problem solving and task implementation.
• Resolves conflicts/issues and escalates others as appropriate.

Development & Coaching

• Continually enhances skills and builds knowledge in all aspects of the organization, the business and information systems.

Required Skills

• Experience supporting or developing applications within RBC.
• Experience using BI Reporting Tools (ex. Tableau, Power BI); creating and enhancing reports
• Good understanding of SQL (Structured Query Language) and database activities.
• Experience with PYTHON
• Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite Proficiency
• Business Analytics, Agile development life cycle and Kanban
• Good communication skills and comfortable in presenting and/or facilitating to small groups of individuals of varied career levels.
• Comfortable working with a product owner independently to gather and refine requirements.

Nice to Have

• PYTHON or scripting language for data transformation and data injection.
• Comfortable using databases (creating tables, views, indexes) and a good understanding of database concepts.
• Experience using a database (PostgreSQL, SQL Server)

Comfortable working Independently or in small teams.
