PROFESSOR OF BIOCHEMISTRY AND OMICS SCIENCES (GENOMICS, TRANSCRIPTOMICS, PROTEOMICS OR LIPIDOMICS)

The Université de Sherbrooke invites applications to fill a position of regular professor in BIOCHEMISTRY AND OMICS SCIENCES. This is a full-time regular position within the Department of Biochemistry and Functional Genomics of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Biochemistry and Functional Genomics brings together researchers with diverse expertise in genetics and epigenetics, transcriptomics, structural and functional proteomics, lipidomics, and bioinformatics, whose work focuses on the mechanistic, structural, and dynamic aspects of gene expression regulation. The department benefits from a highly attractive environment, with a physical presence in and/or collaborative links with the Institut de recherche sur le cancer de l’Université de Sherbrooke (IRCUS), the Pavillon de santé de précision et de recherche translationnelle (PSPRT), the Institut de Pharmacologie (IPS), the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke (CHUS), the Centre de recherche clinique (CRC), the Centre de recherche sur le vieillissement (CdRV), and the Pôle ARN of the Université de Sherbrooke.

DESIRED PROFILE

This profile is intended for an individual who holds a PhD with postdoctoral experience in a relevant field, and who possesses technical and analytical expertise in biochemistry and omics sciences, and/or at the interface between these fields, along with a strong aptitude for teaching and graduate supervision. The candidate will have demonstrated success in conducting innovative research on problems related to RNA, protein, or lipid biology, with an interest in developing therapies connected to these areas and will have shown strong potential to establish an independent research program funded by external agencies.

FUNCTIONS

• Teaching at all three levels of study (undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral).
• Development of fundamental and/or applied research activities.
• Supervision of graduate students.
• Participation in university life.
• Contribution to community service.

REQUIREMENTS

• Hold a Ph.D. in biochemistry or in a related discipline deemed relevant.
• Evidence of a strong interest and solid aptitude for teaching and university pedagogy.
• Demonstration of a strong interest in research (disciplinary and interdisciplinary), as well as in knowledge transfer and innovation.
• Demonstration of the ability to supervise graduate students effectively.
• A publication record in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals, attesting to the excellence of the research profile.
• Demonstration of strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Demonstration of leadership qualities, initiative, and excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively and harmoniously with a variety of internal and external partners.
• Ability to comply with the requirements of responsible research conduct.
• The capacity to teach in French or achieve this ability within a short period of time

The working conditions are governed by the collective agreements in effect. Regular, full-time, tenure-track position. Anticipated start date: at any time during 2027.
