Job Description
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects in Calgary.
- Analyze project plans and specifications to identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely bids.
- Source and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Maintain and update a database of historical cost data for future reference.
- Provide insights and recommendations for cost-saving strategies during the pre-construction phase.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies throughout the estimating process.
- Participate in post-project reviews to refine estimating practices and improve accuracy.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Senior Estimator should have:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Construction, Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in commercial construction estimating with a general contractor
- Strong ability to read and interpret building specifications, blueprints, and as-builts
- Advanced mathematical and analytical skills for developing precise material and labour estimates
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to collaborate with stakeholders
- Well-established network of local sub-contractor relationships within the Calgary market
