Focus Systems is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Domain Architect (1885) to support enterprise cybersecurity architecture, Azure cloud security, VMware Cloud Foundation, Microsoft Defender security services, and security governance initiatives within a healthcare/health information technology environment.

Contract: July 2026 - March 31, 2027, with two (2) additional twelve (12)-month extension options

Role Overview
The Cyber Security Domain Architect (1885) will lead and provide expert advisory services within the security domain, with a primary focus on Azure Cloud, VMware Cloud Foundation, and Microsoft Defender security capabilities.
The successful candidate will provide strategic guidance in developing security architecture direction, domain roadmaps, standards, reference architectures, and best practices. This role is responsible for defining, designing, and communicating security architectural viewpoints, models, and patterns that help ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of enterprise platforms, systems, and data across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments. The successful candidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to understand business, regulatory, operational, and technical security requirements and to support enterprise-wide security initiatives and architectural decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage multi-year Security Domain roadmaps aligned with enterprise strategy
- Evaluate existing security architectures and recommend improvements
- Define and maintain security architecture standards, controls, reference architectures, and best practices
- Provide architectural leadership for Azure Cloud environments, VMware Cloud Foundation, and hybrid cloud platforms
- Define security design principles for cloud and hybrid architectures
- Drive adoption of Zero Trust frameworks and defense-in-depth security models
- Establish architectural guardrails and constraints for infrastructure security, identity management, and data protection
- Provide expert guidance on Microsoft Defender technologies
- Assess current-state security architecture and define future-state models
- Conduct security architecture gap assessments
- Lead evaluation and integration of emerging security technologies
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application development teams
- Advise stakeholders on security risks, mitigation strategies, and architectural alternatives
- Support enterprise-wide security governance initiatives
Mandatory Qualifications
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Security Architecture and/or Enterprise Cybersecurity
- Applicant must hold one (1) or more of the following certifications: Azure Security Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) OR Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
- Experience designing and implementing enterprise security solutions
- Experience defining enterprise security standards and reference architectures
- Experience leading security architecture initiatives across large organizations
- Experience developing enterprise security roadmaps and strategies
- Experience advising executive stakeholders on cybersecurity risks and architecture decisions
- Robust Azure Security Architecture expertise, including Microsoft Entra ID, IAM, Azure-native security controls, cloud governance, and policy enforcement
- Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation architecture, virtualization security, workload security, network segmentation, micro-segmentation, and hybrid cloud security
- Experience with Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Identity, security posture management, and threat protection capabilities
- Security governance, risk management, compliance management, data protection, encryption, threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, threat modelling, and security risk assessment experience
Preferred Experience & Assets
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline
- Healthcare industry cybersecurity experience
- Public sector cybersecurity experience
- Experience with HIPAA, PHIPA, NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, and Information Security Management Systems (ISMS)
- Experience developing multi-year security strategies and roadmaps
- Experience with hybrid cloud and multi-platform security architectures
- Experience implementing Zero Trust frameworks and defense-in-depth security models
- Experience integrating security controls across Azure environments, VMware Cloud Foundation, and enterprise applications
- Experience evaluating and implementing emerging security technologies
- Experience conducting enterprise security gap assessments
- Experience influencing enterprise-wide architecture decisions
