Heavy Equipment Operator

The successful candidate will join a dedicated team that values collaboration, mutual respect, and a willingness to support one another in delivering essential services to the community. The District offers the opportunity to work with a modern and diverse fleet. Operators may find themselves running a grader, loader, excavator, snow removal equipment, trucks, or other specialized equipment – sometimes all within the same day. This position offers meaningful work, variety, and opportunities for growth and advancement for the right individual. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Safe and efficient operation of heavy mobile equipment including grading, snow & ice control operations;
- Supporting roads, drainage systems, and public infrastructure;
- Routine inspections and preventative maintenance while recording accurate equipment records;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum Class 3 BC Driver's Licence with Air Brake Endorsement (preference given to Class 1 D/L);
- Current driver's abstract satisfactory to the Employer;
- Demonstrated experience operating heavy equipment with a strong commitment to workplace safety;
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions;
- Strong work ethic, reliability, attention to detail and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Municipal Public Works experience, supporting roads, drainage, water, wastewater & winter maintenance.
- Occupational First Aid certification.
- BC Small Water/Wastewater Systems certification considered an asset.
- Experience in construction, forestry, mining, highways, utilities, agriculture or related activities
