Job Responsibility:
Job Overview The Medical Office Assistant in the Billing Department will be responsible for managing patient billing processes, ensuring accuracy in claims submissions, and providing excellent customer service to patients regarding billing inquiries. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of medical billing practices. Looking for someone who can work Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays from 8:30am - 3:30pm.
Duties
- Process patient billing information accurately and efficiently.
- Verify MSP coverage and eligibility for patients.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies, ICBC claims and WorkSafe claims in a timely manner and follow up on any outstanding claims.
- Preparing Medical Records requests for Lawyers and insurance companies
- Processing and generating invoices for all forms submitted, collecting payment for private pay patients and sick notes
- Assist patients with billing inquiries and resolve any discrepancies.
- Maintain organized records of billing transactions and patient accounts.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate documentation for billing purposes and data entry.
- Stay updated on changes in billing regulations and insurance policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in medical billing or healthcare administration is a plus.
- Previous experience in medical billing or as a Medical Office Assistant is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software.
- Knowledge with Juno EMR is preferred but willing to train for the right person
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare staff.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and coding practices is advantageous.
- Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
