Job Title: Associate Project Accountant

Reporting directly to the Program Manager, Business Systems, the Associate Project Accountant is a blended role which will support daily accounting operations and assist with financial reporting, contribute to monthly close activities, while also involved in implementation and maintenance of various projects, including the ERP system, expense management system and other finance related business systems. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a strong foundation in corporate accounting, financial processes as well as system implementations and maintenance.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Financial Operations & Compliance

• Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies in a timely manner.


• Create and process payment batches, ensuring accuracy and adherence to payment schedules.


• Support monthly financial close processes.


• Support internal and external audit requests by gathering required documentation.


• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.

Systems & Process Improvement

• Set up new users and access roles in the ERP and expense management systems.


• Support the automation of functions and processes within the ERP system.


• Support the implementation of new systems, system enhancements, upgrades, integrations, and process improvement initiatives.

Business Analysis & Testing

• Define and document testing approaches, including test strategies, test plans, test cases, and validation scenarios, to ensure solutions meet business and functional requirements.


• Prepare and maintain business analysis documentation, including requirement documents, functional specifications, process diagrams, user stories, and traceability documents.

Additional Responsibilities

• All other duties as reasonably assigned

The Ideal Candidate

Education / Qualifications:

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.


• CAPM certification is considered an asset.

Experience / Skills

• 1–2 years of relevant accounting or finance experience preferred.


• Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.


• Experience with accounts payable processes, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.


• Experience with ERP platforms, such as Pronto Xi, is considered an asset.


• Knowledge of business process analysis, process mapping, and process improvement methodologies.


• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.


• Strong written and verbal communication skills.


• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.


• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.

Work Location & Conditions

This is an office-based job, in Skeena’s Corporate office located in Vancouver, British Columbia on a Monday to Friday schedule. Additionally, the job is in a fast paced, and at times stressful working environment, with having to manage multiple competing priorities. Some flexibility in work location may be considered.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is CAD $50,000-$65,000, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines, and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
