Overview
Position Summary: Excellent opportunity for Child and Youth Psychiatrists looking to practice in a welcoming community setting where the lifestyle opportunities are endless. Two positions available to join Penticton Regional Hospital. You will be part of a dedicated team of 6 psychiatrists providing up-to-date, comprehensive, quality client-centered care to individuals and their families. The 16-bed Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (IPU) offers Acute Mental Health and Substance Use services in a safe, secure and accessible facility for the South Okanagan region. In addition to Inpatient services, our well-established integrated Adult Mental Health programs include Short Term Counseling, Community Case Management, Vocational Rehabilitation, Physical Activation, Anxiety and Depression, DBT groups, as well as Seniors Mental Health and Rural Outreach. The community child and youth mental health program features individual counselling, group counselling, DBT program and integrated psychiatric services. The role supports a diverse practice with a collaborative and experienced team of caring inter-disciplinary professionals. There is also an opportunity to teach medical students and participate in quality improvement and program development activities. The current call requirement is approximately 1:5 to 6 days with rotating weekends and is remunerated at MOCAP Level 2. In addition to child and youth psychiatry, this position may also involve general psychiatry. Leadership Development Opportunities are available with Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Program for emerging physician leaders.
Responsibilities
- Be part of a collaborative team of psychiatrists providing inpatient and outpatient care in the South Okanagan region.
- Deliver up-to-date, client-centered psychiatric assessment and treatment for children, youth and families.
- Contribute to teaching medical students and participate in quality improvement and program development activities.
- Engage in call coverage (~1:5 to 1:6 with rotating weekends) and participate in general psychiatry as needed.
- Collaborate within an inter-disciplinary team across IPU and community mental health programs.
Qualifications
- You'll hold, or be eligible for, licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
- If you’re a US-trained physician with ABMS certification in psychiatry, you may be eligible to practice under the USA certified class.
- You’ll have coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association.
